Comedian Paul Merton will once again feature at the Frome Festival this year alongside other celebrities. Another comic genius, Ken Dodd, returns to the Memorial Theatre at festival time, no doubt keeping audiences in hysterics into the small hours.
World-renowned cellist Julian Lloyd Webber will be performing at the Memorial Theatre at the festival finale on Sunday, July 13.
Having already booked Courtney Pine, the jazz saxophonist, for an appearance, Jan Ayres, a regular promoter at the Cheese and Grain Hall, has delivered a fantastic package of events during the 10-day festival.
Concerts include the biggest rising star in British folk music, Seth Lakeman, the beautiful jazz vocals of singer and Radio 2 broadcaster, Clare Teal, the singer-songwriter Glenn Tilbrook (hot on the heels of his recent success with the newly-revived Squeeze) and the legendary 1970s band 10CC, still featuring original songwriter Graham Gouldman, with all the great hits like I'm Not in Love and Art For Art's Sake.
Other world renowned performers in their respective fields include Indian singer Sheila Chandra, and Spanish pianist Maria Angel Garcia, who will both perform in St John's Church.
Among classical highlights will be a gala performance in the Great Hall at Longleat of Walton's Facade, which features the poetry of Edith Sitwell, as read by Stephanie Cole, making a return to the festival.
The full programme will be available online w/c Monday, April 21
Brochures will be published in early May.
